at Thunder Mountain School Auditorium (3101 Diamond Pk Lp)

Tickets: $50

Join us for an electrifying evening of songs and theater that will help to build the sustainability of Theater Alaska programs for youth, including education programs for the next generation of Alaskan artists. Performers include the powerhouse Broadway actors Q. Smith (Come From Away, Les Miserables), Billy Bustamante (Miss Saigon, King and I), Lawrence Stallings (Book of Mormon), Julian De Guzman (Newsies, Miss Saigon), Juneau favorite Ericka Lee, and students from the Theater Alaska Shakespeare and Musical Theater Camps at the Juneau Fine Arts Camp.

Billy Bustamante and Julian De Guzman are members of Broadway Barkada, which aims to bring the Filipino experience to a diverse audience and to give them a deeper understanding of their culture and their artists.

About Theater Alaska For Youth and Education Programs
Theater Alaska is excited and honored to be in its first year collaborating with Juneau Fine Arts Camp to provide theater training for Alaskan youth. This year’s offerings include Shakespeare Camp, Musical Theater Camp, and Musical Theater for Littles, all of which will culminate in public performances. Theater Alaska will expand these training and performance opportunities throughout the year. This Fall, we will offer professional theater training for youth.

Theater Alaska brings theater annually into all Juneau high schools to ensure that students see and interact with professional theater. We presented Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan (in partnership with NAMI Juneau and Juneau Suicide and Prevention Coalition) and A Doll’s House, Part 2 as a part of this initiative. We plan to bring this year’s A Christmas Carol to the high schools in the Fall.

Theater Alaska has also worked with English teachers at Juneau high schools to introduce students to plays through participation in theater exercises and active discussion of themes and the theatrical artform.
