Edgar Mendoza

Edgar Mendoza is the inaugural recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Paul Stephen  Lim Asian American Playwriting Award for his play Broken Spoke. His plays have  been developed and performed at Ma-Yi Theater, Cherry Lane Theatre, The Lark  Play Development Center, the Dramatists Guild, 2g Productions, International Arts  Movement, East West Players, Eastern University, Kenyon College and UCLA. He previously served as Playwright in Residence at Eastern University, and wrote the  book for a new musical, Rise. Edgar received a Lark Play Development Center  Residency at New York Stage & Film, and was a Core Artist at the Lark, also. He’s  been a Dramatists Guild Playwriting Fellow, and is an alumnus of the Ma-Yi Theater  Writers Lab. He’s earned an Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award, Shubert  Foundation Fellowship Award, 2g Jumpstart Commission and received his M.F.A.  from Carnegie Mellon University. Edgar recently was awarded a scholarship for the Yellowbrick / NYU Tisch Performing Arts Industry Essentials Program.
