Anouk Otsea
A born-and-raised Juneauite, Anouk began studying dance at the age of three with Juneau Dance Theater, formerly known as Juneau Dance Unlimited. Anouk left Juneau in the Fall of 2014 to complete her high school years at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, studying dance under the direction of Michael Owen. She then completed the LINES Ballet BFA Program led by Marina Hotchkiss in San Francisco, graduating in the spring of 2020. Upon returning to Juneau in the fall of 2020, Anouk was awarded a grant through the JAHC’s Juneau CARES ArtWorks Program for the production of a short dance film titled, “solace.” Inspired by the resilience and vulnerability of Lingít Aaní, Anouk, along with composer Robert Newman and videographer Ryan Cortés, created the piece in collaboration with the ancestral land of the Auk Kwan people. Anouk is honored to be sharing the “stage” with fellow Juneau artists and dancing in support of her two great passions, art and the environment.
